Iwao Akiyama Gallery of the Reader Collection of Japanese Flower-and-Bird Art

Iwao studied with the woodblock printmaker Shikō Munakata and used Shikō’s creative style, typical of Japanese folk-art, for his own prints. Many of these prints featured birds, especially owls, and a large number also included poetry. This gallery shows 108 of Iwao’s poem-prints. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
